My daughter is far from a "girly girl". So when she started talking about wanting her room to look like a princess's room, I jumped at the chance. The first thing she wanted was a canopy. I wasn't sure how she wanted it around he bed so I hesitated to purchase the typical "mosquito net" style. I found some extremely long sheers and just held on to them for a few months until I was sure what she wanted.
She wanted something that would go around her entire bed. She has a double so it was going to have to be on the larger side.
What we used was:
Curtains that we had----- $4.00
Hula Hoop---------------- $3.00
Garland from craft store-$12.00
Butterfies--------------- $1.50 each
Before I put the curtain on the hoop I decided to spay paint it. I had some white from a Christmas project. Once it dried I began. To put the curtain on the hoop I cut it (I didn't know that there is actually a spot that is already sliced. I then took clear packing tape to secure it closed. I wrapped the garland around and attached it with some wire that I had (you can also use twist ties, I always save those). To hang it from the ceiling I found some white chains, the type you use to hang planters and placed a hook in her ceiling. To attach the chains I used the same wire (picture or flower)and while it was on the floor I spaced them evenly around the hoop. Once we hung it, my daughter decided where she wanted he butterflies. They clip on so we can move them around as her mood changes.
I will cover the chains with additional garland and add a few more butterflies, but I wanted to go ahead a get this posted. She loves it!!!
